Let’s discuss aircraft food. Love it or hate it, we have each a story. Some lucky passengers eat sweet and crispy Biscoff cookies. Others choose exquisite meals on long-haul flights or new meal kits for shorter trips. We’ve all had less-than-stellar meals at 35,000 feet.

If you’ve ever been trapped with an unattractive in-flight meal (or found yourself sipping airline coffee or tea despite its bad reputation). There’s some good news: One renowned airline is significantly increasing its culinary offerings.

Continue reading to learn more about this delectable upgrade. Including which airline is offering it. You can get in on the deal, and, most crucially, if it will be ready in time for your Thanksgiving journey. We have all the juicy details!

Which airline is getting a nice upgrade?

According to a news release from Delta’s onboard service managing director Stephanie Laster, “We’re excited to elevate the offering with Shake Shack because our customers know that a delicious cheeseburger is an iconic comfort food, which is why burgers are one of the top-ordered menu items we offer.” “Shake Shack’s people-first culture as well as dedication to enriching their neighborhoods are spot on with our own company principles of outstanding customer service and contributing to the areas that we serve.”

This is Delta’s first partnership with Shake Shack, extending to its long-standing relationship with Union Square Hospitality Group (USHG) and its iconic founder, Danny Meyer. Meyer, the founder of Shake Shack, has been instrumental in elevating the Delta dining experience. Select Delta flights departing from New York’s JFK airport will once again include meals prepared by Union Square Events, USHG’s catering arm.

Who can benefit from these additional onboard offerings?

We regret to inform our fellow economy and business-class passengers that the Shake Shack cheeseburger is now only available to first-class passengers. Soon, customers in first class on flights greater than 900 miles will be able to order the well-known burger as their in-flight dinner. It’s the ultimate upgrade for those who are lucky enough to plan ahead.

The Shake Shack cheeseburger will be accessible by pre-order, allowing you to reserve your delectable choice ahead of time. Here’s how it works. Simply utilize the Fly Delta app or the link in your email seven days before departure to select or alter your entree until 24 hours before takeoff.

When will the food upgrade become available on the airline’s flights?

Unfortunately, you will not be able to eat the Shack Shack cheeseburger during your Thanksgiving flight. However, the menu revamp will arrive at its first airport in time for the upcoming holiday.

Starting Sunday, December 1, passengers flying out of Boston can enjoy this delectable upgrade. And don’t worry, it’s not limited to Bostonians. Delta plans to expand this exquisite treat to additional US markets by 2025. So prepare to upgrade your in-flight food experience, one cheeseburger at a time.
