CBT Therapeutic Techniques Explained

CBT Therapeutic Techniques Explained

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a very structured type of therapy where the goal is explicitly laid out. CBT is focused on your current problems. Also, it helps you to identify which of your thought patterns are unhealthy and put in place better ones.

At Zoechea Academy, we do not give out vague advice. We take a very specific and focused approach. What we offer through CBT are tools you put to use immediately, and which you will see the results of as you put the methods into practice.

  1. Thought Records

In CBT, a key approach is what we call a Thought Record, which you put on paper a situation that caused you to have a negative emotion, what you thought at the time, how that made you feel, and then you question the truth of those thoughts.

  1. Behavioural Activation

When people, out of anxiety or depression, stop what brings them joy or structure. CBT uses behavioural activation to get you to do things you don’t feel like doing. If you’ve given up on your evening walk or your hobbies are a chore at present, CBT suggests small steps.

  1. Cognitive Restructuring

This strategy is concerned with disputing and changing negative thoughts. This isn’t simply about positive thinking. It’s accurate thinking. This approach also gives you the ability to break the cycle of self-blame and self-doubt.

  1. Exposure Therapy

This is not for going out and confronting your fears at once. It is a gradual process. If social situations are your issue, CBT is a tool that helps you take it one step at a time – from the small,l ike saying hello to a neighbour, to larger things like attending a group event. This is for people who have anxiety or OCD.

  1. Privacy in Therapy

In therapy, many of us hold back because we fear judgment and exposure. At Zoechea Academy, we do more than talk about privacy,  we live it. Our sessions are fully private. What you share with your therapist is between the two of you. That privacy is the base of our trust, which in turn is the foundation for growth.

  1. Therapy Shopping

Many people try out many therapies before they find what works best for them. This is what we term therapy shopping, which is totally fine. CBT does very well because it is structured and results-oriented. You aren’t just there to talk; you are active participants in your treatment. If you have tried other methods and found no success, CBT may be the approach that finally does what you need it to do.

Real Healing Starts Here

CBT is not for changing your core self. It is for you to do the work of understanding what makes you tick, which in turn will enable you to change how you react to the world. At the Zeroth Place Academy, we present to you a safe space, expert guidance, and a method that works. Whether you are just beginning your journey or have tried many therapists in the past, CBT may be the breakthrough you need. Begin your path with us today, where your mind heals and grows.
