White Musli Farming Guide Explained

This blog post will explain the entire process of white Musli farming with the harvesting process and profits.

How To Do White Musli Farming

White Musli is mainly used in making Ayurvedic and Unani medicines. The fruits of white musli grow underground, and the farmers who cultivate it can earn well even by drying the seeds from the flowers that grow above the ground and selling them, but due to the over-ripening of the flowers, the crop is affected.

White Musli is an Ayurvedic medicine to increase potency, so it is used in treating many diseases like cough, asthma, skin diseases, piles, jaundice and impotence etc. White musli is sold at different prices according to its quality, but the market price of good quality white musli ranges from Rs.1000 to Rs.1500 per kg.

Suitable Soil For White Musli Farming

Light sandy loam soil is considered most suitable for cultivating white musli, and its production is also high in this soil. On the other hand, white musli can be cultivated easily in red and black clay soil with the help of an ideal tractor tyre, but ensure that the pH value of the land should not be more than 7 because white musli crops do not thrive in alkaline soil. Therefore, if you grow white musli in this soil type, your crop production and quality will be affected.

There should be good drainage in the field where it is cultivated because, in the case of water logging in the area, there is a high risk of disease in the crop, which also affects the production of the crop. The cultivation of white musli should be done only in a more fertile place to obtain good products from its harvest.

Climate And Temperature For White Musli Farming

A hot and humid climate is most suitable for White Musli Farming. White Musli cultivation in India is done in maximum quantity and easily in the upper regions of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir. The rainy season is the right time to cultivate white musli, so no special temperature is needed for its growth.

White Musli Farming Field Preparation

In white musli farming, first, plough the field thoroughly. After this:

  1. Leave the field open for a few days, and after a few days.
  2. According to the field, put old rotten cow dung manure in the area.
  3. After applying manure, apply water to the field.
  4. Plough the soil and mix the waste well when the water dries up.

Sowing Season And White Musli

July is considered the most suitable for sowing the seeds of white Musli in the field. July is the rainy season, so it is easy to grow its crop, and the plant also develops well. In planting white musli seeds, 4 to 5 quintals are used per hectare. Before planting, the seeds should be treated well. Then, sow the seed in the field by hand or with the help of a seed drill machine for efficiency.

In planting its seeds, the distance between two lines should be 20 cm, and between the seeds being sown should be 10 cm. After sowing, cover these pits properly with soil.

Fertiliser Management In White Musli Cultivation

There is no need for much fertiliser in the cultivation of white Musli because the quality of the crop is affected by the excessive use of chemical fertilisers. As a result, only cow dung manure and vermicompost manure should be used in its crop.

By using these fertilisers, the effect of diseases like fungus is also seen less in the crop. After sowing the seeds in the field, irrigation should be done, and farmers can use the MRF tractor tyre after irrigation. However, during the rainy season, irrigation should only be done when needed.

Weeding In White Musli Crop

Weed control in the white Musli crop requires more care of its yield because its roots must be protected from damage. Therefore, weeding should be done regularly in about 15 to 20 days after sowing in the field. If there are weeds in the area, they should be removed by hand.

White Musli Yield And Benefits

Talking about the yield from the white musli crop gives a yield of up to about 12 quintals in one acre. The production of dried musli is more than 4 quintals. The white musli’s price in the market ranges from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 1,500 per kg. As a result, farmer brothers can easily earn up to 4 to 5 lakh rupees by its cultivation.
